Fengjia Night Market – What to Eat

Sausages at Fengjia

At one point, 2 sausage places were battling each other in the media about who was the first in the market and had the original sausage combination. Both stands are still there across from each other near the entrance to Fengjia University. Both stands’ sausages are great.

The sausage is actually a pork sausage tucked into a rice sausage (white) like a hot dog. Each stand has its own flavors and varieties of toppings and sauces.

Here is one of the famous stands that has an orange sign.

The other stand, about 30 feet away, has an orange and red sign. Everyone has a favorite, so you just have to pick the shortest line and give it a try.

Super Large Squid on a Stick

Angry Squid has been highlighted on a lot of food shows. Its a large piece of fresh squid on a stick.

The fresh squids are coated in a flour mixture before frying.

After they are coated, the squids are put into a deep fryer. After they are taken out, the excess oil is removed and some spices are added. Truly Taiwanese!!!

Black Tea Stinky Tofu

After they are coated, the squids are put into a deep fryer. After they are taken out, the excess oil is removed and some spices are added. Truly Taiwanese!!!

This stand soaks its tofu in black tea before it is put into the stinky tofu fryer. Truly Taiwanese!!!

If you’re a stinky tofu fan, you’ll love the smell and the unique taste. But, ofcourse, it’s not for everyone.

Banana Roti

Straight from Thailand? Maybe. But these pancakes with fresh Taiwan bananas and chocolate are awesome!!

Banana Rotis are a great dessert after night market snacking.

Barbecued and Grilled Shrimp

There is lots of fresh seafood at the Fengjia Night Market. Shrimps are a specialty and many stands will barbecue them with your choice of sauces.

Some stands barbecue shrimps on a skewer.

German Pig Knuckles

German Pig Knuckles 德國豬腳 have been popping up in lots of Taiwan night markets.

Pig knuckles are a favorite in Taiwan. Give the German ones a try and compare.

Korean Style Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are common in Taiwan, but Korean flavored ones with a little Kimchee have become popular.

The Korean chicken wings are tangy but with a little spice.

Taiwan Style Luwei

Luwei is a style of cooking where veggies, meat, and tofu are stewed for a few mintues in a flavorful broth mixture. This stand has a Beijing style luwei stand.
