The Jiufen Teahouse 九份茶坊 in Jiufen Town sits at the top of the village and you can boil up your own tea and enjoy the views below.

When visiting the town of Jiufen, you shouldn’t miss the Jiufen (Chiufen) Teahouse. The Jiufen Teahouse was opened in 1991 and replicates an old wooden house located at the top level of Jiufen. There are great views and it’s a fun way to learn and enjoy how to make Taiwan tea in a traditional way.

The decor of the Jiufen Tea house is very unique. It is a wooden structure filled with antique wooden furniture for patrons to sit. There is also a shop area where you can buy tea and pottery.

The tea house is situated at the top of the long staircase that Jiufen is famous for. The views are spectacular. If you can get a seat on the back balcony overlooking the mountains and ocean, it will then be an image you won’t forget. But, sitting inside among the antique Chinese furniture is special in itself.

Make sure to order a few plates of nuts or seeds. These go well with the hot and fresh brewed tea as well as being a traditional custom in Taiwan. Old Jiufen

The menu, which has English, has a few varieties of tea. The price includes the water fee. The waitress then prepares a stove full of hot charcoal. This is very unique at the Jiufen Teahouse as most other places use gas.

The teapots are also very unique at the Jiufen Teahouse. It has the elements of clay, wood, and metal. The teahouse sells them in their shop.

Once the water is boiled, you put a few spoonfuls of the tea in the small pot. Let the tea steep for a minute and them pour it into the pourer. Use the pourer pour the tea into the small cups. When you are ready for more tea, you can use the same tea leaves. Each batch of tea leaves can be brewed 4-5 times but the taste will become lighter and lighter.
