Bamboo Tea House-Kaohsiung 竹厝泡沫紅茶 sells old fashion Taiwan style tea drinks!

There are many coffee shops and tea stands all over Taiwan. It’s easy to find a cold drink option at just about every intersection. However, if you are looking for a cold tea and a place to sit, seek out the Bamboo Hut Teahouse located along the bustling Qing Nian Road in downtown Kaohsiung City.

The Bamboo Teahouse, “Zhu Cuo” in Mandarin is family run for over 20+ years. Unlike the many franchise tea shops around Taiwan, Bamboo has kept its original location and seating area that is popular with the lunch/afternoon crowd.

Where is Bamboo?

Bamboo is at the corner of Qing Nian Road and Zi Qiang Road. It is about a 2 minute walk from the rear of the Hanshen Department Store.

Bamboo has an open seating area (no AC) and is a fun place to just sit and enjoy the bustling city around you.

Bamboo has a large menu of teas that have made Taiwan famous. Anything from green, black, and Taiwan Oolong teas to all variations of milk teas are on the menu. There is an English menu as well.

When ordering your drink, let them know how much ice and sugar you want. There is a little chart on the counter to help you decide. Ice and sugar ranges from none to normal and a few variations in between. Bamboo offers a medium and large size cup.

Food at Bamboo

Although not a restaurant, Bamboo has a few “old style” food items. They offer thick toast with peanut butter or chocolate melted on top, or small bowls of noodles called “guo shao mian”. Their pot stickers are a popular item. Bamboo has free wifi. They are closed on Sundays.

The seating at Bamboo is all bamboo furniture made by the owners.

During the hot summer, the bamboo furniture feels more comfortable to sit on.
