Mount Baxian 7 Heroes of Guguan is part of the 7 mountains in the Guguan area outside of Taichung City. Mt. Baxian is the highest of the seven peaks and is ranked as #1. The hiking trails of these mountains are through beautiful old growth forest. Although all can be hiked in a half day, the mountains can be steep and challenging at some parts.

Mt. Ba Xian:
Height: 2,366 Meters
Distance: 6.3 km (1 way)
Time Roundtrip: 7-9 hours
Altitude Gain: 1,366 Meters

The Climb Up Mt. Ba Xian Begins

The trail is very clear to follow. It starts with switch backs including trail and steps that wind up the side of the initial climb.

Logging Tracks

Hikers will encounter old logging tracks. These wood tracks were used as a way to move freshly cut logs along the ground. The logs were pulled on top of the slick and slippery wood railroad tracks.

More Trail

Old Logging Elevator

Loggers used this elevator to lower and lift logs and gear up and down parts of the mountain.

Gorgeous Old Growth Forest

This part of the hike is beautiful. The mossy green trees light up the area.

Final Peak Approach

The final approach actually flattens out. The path is very easy to walk and hikers can enjoy the environment.

Mt. Ba Xian Peak

There isn’t much view from Mt. Baixian’s peak. This hike is more about the effort and walk through the old forest. Hikers will hang out, take photos and cook up some lunch and tea. It is a nice walk down afterwards. Perhaps hot springs await in Guguan?
