The Kaohsiung City Jade Market is a cool stop for a shopping visit in Kaohsiung.

If you’re visiting Kaohsiung whether to shop or tour, the Kaohsiung City Jade Market is a must place to visit. This market is the best place in Kaohsiung to buy jade, ivory , wood carvings, crystals, semi precious stones, amber, Buddhist relics, brass , clay tea pots, and various types of paintings.

Open Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday (9:00am-4:30), the Kaohsiung Jade Market is a bustling scene that attracts locals and visitors alike.

What to Buy at the Kaohsiung Jade Market

The Jade Market is a huge hall with tables of vendors lined up in rows. Apparently, the best place to visit the market for Jade is on Wednesday which is when the best Jade vendors set up shop there.

From wood and jade, to brass and clay, the market has everything from great jewelery, to art, to knick knacks for your house. It is a great place to buy souvenirs or gifts from your visit to Taiwan.

Should I Bargain at the Jade Market?

YES, YES, YES! You should bargain at the Jade Market. Honestly, if you don’t know what you are looking at, it is difficult to know how high the quality is. Vendors have a tendency here to overcharge visitors for this reason. Many may be honest with you. It is a good idea to go with a Taiwanese person who can help bargain the price if you are planning to spend a larger amount of money.

Some of the jade may be top quality while others may not be jade at all. Let the buyer beware.
