Wandering Tainan Anping Old Street

When visiting the Anping Old Fort area, visitors must take a walk throught the Tainan Anping Old Street (安平老街). The Tainan Anping Old Street starts near the front entrance of the Anping Old Fort and runs along Yanping Street. It is narrow and windy and is full packed with stalls and old buildings.

The Anping Old Street is filled with a lot of fresh food and drinks cooked before your eyes.

There are many cultural items and souvenirs you can buy.

There a few special areas that visitors can walk into and around.

Fresh fruit is always plentiful and flavorful in southern Taiwan.

Peanut Candy at Tainan Anping Old Street

Some vendors are busy making specialty snacks from the area like peanut candy.

The famous coffin bread also makes it appearance at the Anping Old Street.

There are several storefronts selling many Taiwanese items.

Black sugar bread is not only delicious but is made fresh at the old street. Go ahead and buy a loaf.

The Anping Old Street runs along Yanping Street. You’ll be walking past the front doors of many residences.

The famous pig blood cake is prepared with peanuts and sauces.

For Taiwanese, there are some old style/traditional snacks for sale at the old street. Give some a try, but the tastes are very unique.

The area has some temples tucked between houses. The temples are ornate and sometimes very busy with followers.

This type of gelatin called “Aiyu” comes from a big round fruit that looks like a sesame ball. The seeds inside are mashed into a mixture to make a cool sweet treat that Taiwanese love. It’s like a “Taiwan jello”.
