When driving through the Jiaoxi area, it's hard to miss the array of green onion stands along the sides of the road. Green onions grow well and large here. If you do buy some, be careful as the smell is very strong and soon your car will smell like them.
The Hot Spring omatoes are also abundant in the Yilan region. They grow very large and red. The taste is fresh and a little bit sweet. Many restaurants will add these tomatoes to their dishes.
Small kumquat oranges are also grown here. They are fresh and juicy and great for making tea during the cold winters.
The YIshunhan cake shop is a famous one and is located in the center of Jiaoxi across the street from Tangweigou Park. Go in and try their various cakes. The sweet egg rolls are wonderful.
