Info: This is by far the best gear shop in Kaohsiung. 100 Mountain has everything and the prices are the best you’ll find anywhere in the city and maybe even in Taiwan. Don’t even try to bargain. The staff is very helpful. Boots, tents, headlamps, camping stoves, jackets….it’s all here.
100 Mountain is a major seller of Mammut and Fjvall Raven Brands.

#2 Decathlon 迪卡儂
This French company is opening all over Taiwan. They carry a big selection for just about every activity. Decathlon is the lowest priced store for outdoor gear. HOWEVER, it really is for the occasional and casual outdoor person/athlete. The quality of the gear won’t last constant and strenuous use. But, the stores are large and there is always something there to pick up.

#3 Metro Oasis 城市綠州
Metro Oasis is a large camping/outdoor/bicycle store with more than 10 locations located around Taiwan. Prices are reasonable and you might find some different kinds of brands here.

Directions: Driving West on Wufu Rd. it is the first place you see on the right after crossing the bridge over the Love River.
GT Sports has a good selection of outdoor gear. They are strong in hiking accessoreis and clothing. They also have quite a bit of cycling gear for bikers.
#5 Fox Family Outdoor & Travel Equipment 狐狸家族戶外旅遊用品
Located in North Kaohsiung on the corners or Minzu Road/Tian Xiang Roads, Fox Family is a local shop that carries an array of brands from tents to sleeping bags to packs. #6 Lakesun
Lakesun is a good shop with a variety of brands. There are two locations in Kaohsiung. One is across the street from the Han Shen Arena Shopping Mall near the MRT R14 stop. They provide attentive service and often have someone who can speak English.
The other is in the Fengshan part of Kaohsiung.

TPSS has stores in Taichung and Taibei City. The Taichung store is 2 floors and carries, camping, hiking, and rock climbing gear and accessories. You’ll find great international brands here.

As mentioned above, Metro Oasis has many stores around Taiwan. The Taichung Store is located in the New Century Mall near the Taichung Train Station on the 7th floor.
