Getting to the Guguan Seven Heroes TangMaDan Mountain Hike Trailhead
The trail head for TangMaDan is easy to find. Here is the link of the TMD trailhead.
When traveling on Route 8 towards Guguan, you will actually take a right over a bridge near the 29 km marker and cross the river into the Song He village and wind your way to the trail head.
The TangMaDan hike is not technical. The trail is very clear and there are kilometer markers. The forest is quite thick so the hike is mostly in the shade.
There is a pavilion stop along the way. Although the hike is short, it is quite steep and heads up pretty quickly.
There is a way to do a 5.1km loop down to the butterfly waterfall. We didn’t have time for that, but worth a try next time.
The maps for the TangMaDan hike are clear. The steep sections are laid out well. Just up and back from the peak is a 3 km one way walk.
Mt. TangMaDan Peak
The TangMaDan Mountain peak isn’t very big. However, it’s much better than the one on Mt. BoJinJia which is barely large enough for 5 people.
There is another entrance up to the peak. This can be done if you do the circuit to the waterfall. There is also a trail that connects to another 7 Heroes peak. It took us 2:40 to get back to the trail head including a break.
