|Goal of Lesson:||Students think of sentences to write with a vocabulary word and write it down as quickly as possible.|
|Time Needed:||20 minutes|
Writers and runners is a fun activity to get the class up, thinking quickly and writing on the board. You can use a sticky ball to let the students choose their vocabulary, but I like to tell them when it's their turns to write.
Look at the diagram below. This is the whiteboard. Set is up with 2 teams and the words that you want to practice on the top.
I then line up the two teams facing the white board. The first 2 students are at the whiteboard ready to go.
When I say "GO", I tell each student a word. For example, the student on the left has the word "goes". The student on the right has the word "also".
As quickly as they can , they make a sentence for their word.
As soon as they finish, they pass the marker to the next person on their team. I then tell that student a new word.
The game continues until all the students on one team have finished and each written one sentence.
Scoring is not so basic.
