EIT Lessons - True or False (Yes/No) Game

Age Group: Elementary
Subject: Listening
Goal of Lesson: Practices listening skills of related topics
Time Needed: 20 Minutes
Materials Needed: white or black board (sticky ball if you have them)

This is a game for all class levels. The set up and concept is very easy.

  1. Divide the class into 2 teams or groups
  2. On the board, draw a line down the middle. On one side write “Yes” or “True”. On the other side, wire “No” or “False”.
  3. Call two players to the board.
  4. The teacher makes a yes/no statement based on the current content the students are learning.
eg. “ An apple is red.” or “This is the letter A”(Teacher shows an “A” flashcard.” or “In our story, the fireman saves a person.”
  5. The student who calls out the answer “Yes” or “No” first is the winner. The winner sits and the loser stays at the board. Then the next player from the winning team comes up.

For STICKYBALLS: Instead of saying yes or no, the players can fire a sticky ball to the yes/no side on the board. The fastest and correct player wins the point.
