Age Group: Elementary
Subject: Speaking, Vocabulary
Goal of Lesson: Students practice learned vocabulary.
Time Needed: 15-20 minutes
Materials Needed: a ball

This activity helps students to practice answering questions with vocabulary they have learned.

Take the ball and tell the students it's a hot potato.                                             hot potato game

Then ask question to the class: What do you like to eat? or Tell me a fruit.

Give the hot potato to the first student. They have 5 seconds to answer the question or the potato burns them and they are out. The students should answer "I like to eat pizza." OR just one word.  "Apple", "Banana". etc.

Once the student answers, they then toss the potato to another student. This keeps going on and on until there is only one student remaining.

The game should be fast and the students can't repeat a word or answer that has been said.

Sitting on the floor is a fun place to play this game.
