Comedy Club is a nightclub that provides live comedy shows. The performers are usually the stand-up comedians. A single person with a simple microphone is talented enough to bring the audience into bursts of laughter. The origin of stand-up comedy is said to be Mark Twain. Mark Twain was the best colloquial speaker and humorist in his time. About a 100 years ago, he loved to hang out in the bars by the Mississippi River and tell his interesting stories to the guests in the bars.
At Concessions bar you can see live bands along with a beautiful decor. From the front you might be wondering what is inside this lounge bar in Taichung that boasts the best mojitos in Taiwan. There are five different musicians that offer great entertainment playing a number of English, Mandarin and Taiwanese songs. There are even jazz numbers with violins and acoustic guitar accompaniment and an "Open Mike" time with piano accompaniment. On Thursday and Saturday nights, there are special performances. As you enter through traditional wooden doors, you will find the area spacious with high ceilings, brick walls and even a brick bar. Paintings hang on the walls to add a relaxing decor. On the right are bamboo and wicker tables and chairs, lending a porch-like atmosphere. The dining and stage area is in the center of the par, giving you a front row view of the performers. On the far left there is a pool table and darts for those who chose to play. This place was originally designed as a jazz bar, decorated in the old Chinese fashion of some 50 years previously. The Concession bar offers a large food and drink menu that offers several unique dishes and drinks. A common dish is the stinky tofu. They also have a unique cocktail that is combined of eight different types of liquor and is not for the faint of heart. The next time you pass Concession, take the time to go in and check it out. You'll find that this is a great place to relax and wind down after a day of work.
