Dongpu Lodge near Jade Mountain is located off route 18 about 20 minutes past the entrance to Alishan Forest Park. It is also a 5 minute walk from the entrance to the Tatajia Saddle which brings you into Yushan National Park.
Pre-hike Convenience
The Dongpu Lodge is primarily a pre-hike rest stop for hikers visiting or hiking in the Yushan National Park up to the peak of Jade Mountain.The lodge consists of bunk beds and a pillow and comforter are provided.
There is a kitchen for cooking your own food, a common room with a TV, and a bathroom.The cost of a bunk space is 300NT per person. It is best to call in advance and make sure you have a space as hiking groups often use the lodge as an arrival destination the night before they hike.
Make a Reservation
The lodge can fill up so it is best to make a reservation. If you have received a permit from Yu Shan National Park, it is possible they have seen your foreigner status and have already booked you there for the night before.
Be Prepared Before You Arrive at Dongpu Lodge near Jade Mountain
The Dongpu Lodge has 3 rooms with long sets of bunk beds. You are given a pillow, comforter, and a semi soft mat to sleep on. If you are a light sleeper, don't expect to get much rest. Hikers are coming and going all times of the night and early morning. Bringing ear plugs is a good idea.
You can order breakfast and dinner there if you prefer. Both meals are simple Chinese style. The kitchen in the back is also open for you to cook your own food with your own cooking stove. Hot, boiled water is available.

The Dongpu Lodge near Jade Mountain is a 5-10 minute walk up some steep stairs to the entrance of TataJia. This takes you to the Jade Mountain Park office to check in for your hike.
