Facts About Yilan (Ilan)

Ilan is one of the few cities that is located  on the mountainous eastern coast of the island of Formosa.  Yilan city is home in the neighborhood of 100,000 people. The city of Yilan is smaller than many Taiwan cities  in size  and is located in the central, and most popular  to live area , of the Lanyang Plain, which is Taiwan's second largest plain. It is not far from Taipei city now with the new tunnel. Since the tunnel has been built,   even more  residents of Taipei county frequent this tourist area. You will find many streams and rivers that provide the area with  a constant source of replenishment for the nutrients in the soil. This rich abundant soil makes Yilan a breadbasket county.

Yilan is also well-known as a historical center for some of the many aboriginal peoples who are very diverse.

 Yilan County in nestled in rolling mountains near the rocky seaside . It is beautiful and had wide open spaces. Its a favorite spot for surfing and sunning on the beautiful beaches. The most popular beach Is Furlong Beach. I have been here a few time and enjoyed the sun and surf and smaller beach crowds than most Taipei area beaches. 

Luodong Night Market

It  is  located in the mid sized town of Luodong. It is considered to be a top famous night markets in Taiwan.  The vendors serve up many varieties of  local food delicacies  you to please any craving. While some night markets usually exhibit in children's amusement  and various  clothes,  you can expect a variation  night market is all about the food, and Taipei residents frequent this night market  whenever they get the urge to eat. Many market goers enjoy walking aimlessly around for hours sampling and nibbling on different Taiwan food and snacks as they go.

Old Yilan City

 Old Yilan City is a great tourist location for people interested in Taiwan history. During the Japanese occupancy of Taiwan  has set up a lot of old buildings to place you in the setting of early- and mid-20th century Taiwan. This is a popular attraction area where you can see many buildings that were built by the Japanese while they occupied  Taiwan and are an interesting glimpse into the architecture and a look into the past time of beautiful Formosa.
