For a city of its size by population, Tainan's size by land area is exceptional  though some of the older generation can converse in Japanese. However, to help visitors get around, there are free tri-lingual (Chinese, English and Japanese) map-guides available at the railway station.

One of the most popular destinations in the Tainan area is the Anping District (安平區; Ānpíng ). The Anping District is the historical heart of Tainan, the original capital of Taiwan. Anping is home to the Anping Old Fort (安平古堡; Ānpíng gu bǎo), the Anping Tree House (安平樹屋 Ānpíng shù wū) (a warehouse with massive banyan trees growing all around and out of itself), and numerous restaurants and food stalls.

During the period of  the Japanese colonization, it was used as a hospital for the army and later became popular for hosting the worship for Guanshihyin Budda.

Salt Mountain

Cigu Saltern was the youngest saltern which was managed by Japanese companies and the Nationalist government, it became the largest saltern, and was once an important supplier of industrial salt. Since than, the salt industry diminished sharply. Lots of money and human resources have been dedicated to build a Taiwan Salt Museum and traditional materials in salt industry to design this park.

Salt mountain

This park there boasts  two Salt Mountains Looking like a giant rock standing in a desert,: the highest peak of Salt Mountain, and the north peak of Salt Mountain, which used to be the piling space of Cigu Saltern was once the last place to dry the salt of Cigu Saltern, It consists of around 60 thousand tons of salt. The peak have been naturally crystallized over time with the dust in the air to form a rigid surface.  it has become the landmark of Cigu. The salt on the north peak is from western Australia, produced by one of our overseas joint salterns. As the material of our salt shatter factory, it is snowy white. The shape of the mountain changes as the salt flows. Stepping to the top, you will have an unforgettable experience to feel as if you were in a snowy northern country.

In addition, the park comes complete park, like traditional earth, “tile tray formation” salterns, fan-shaped salterns, salt houses, salt statues, and equipments used “salt element”. For more fun, take the “Du Du Trains”  around the park. Professional narrators will explain everything you want to know to make sure you grasp the beauty of salterns. Exclusively designed “Salt Can DIY”, together with water boats, water-collecting wheel machines, Beach Cars and Go-Karts, will top this attraction off.
