Kenting is a very exotic and probably the most popular tourist destination to visit in Taiwan. It has some of the best beaches in Taiwan like White Sands Beach has great waves for surfing located at the southern end of the island, where many a surfer gathers for surfing, surfing and more surfing. It is the best place for water activities such as surfing, jet skiing and scuba diving. It attracts a lot of foreign tourists in the summer who enjoy the endless white sandy beaches and events such as spring scream which has venues scattered all over the many beachesw. We equally welcome you to come with your family or friends and have fun in and around the water to ease the hot temperature of Kenting's endless summer. There is a huge nightly market that lines both sides of the main street with many vendors. You can see clothes, toys and a wide selection of foods and activities. Enjoy the many restaurants in Kenting serving wide variety of ethnic foods. You can find some rockin enjoyable nightlife and live entertainment also in the many Kenting bars. Spring Scream is a big annual event that has over 10 stages in the general area with camping and loads of live entertainment.

It is also a favored beach dive site. You can see many types of sea coral and active fish. I have seen a seahorse, sea cucumbers, a baby frog fish and many other truly colorful and pretty fish.

Huan Liu Tong Local Village Harbor near Udive Scuba Diving
This a is small local bay type beach where the snorkelers really enjoy going and frolocking around.
It is also a favored beach scuba dive site. There is a nice noodle shop right at the entrance with yummy cheap noodles and beer
Nanwan beach- My Personal Favorite
You can see many wonderful views of Nanwan beach (South Bay) from all different sides.
If you heading south from Hengchun, the first village you will come across and your winding near the beautiful ocean is Nanwan. It is a very popular top tourist spot for a variety of reasons. Let loose with activities such as sunbathing, jet skiing, water sports, surfing, swimming and sunbathing, and snorkeling. Nanwan (South Bay) is hard to beat the pure white sands and local stores and variety of places to stay. Many first timers and wanderers and travelers get to this point and see no need to go further into Kenting and beyond. The village consists of a main strip populated by popular restaurants, bars cafes, bed and breakfast hostels and fully supplied surf shops along the base of the mountain and a plethora of guesthouses of all sizes perched on the mountainside overlooking the bay. The natural beauty and the surf breaks on Nanwan have also turned it one of the busiest beaches in Taiwan. This truly rings true during the busy summer and on weekends. Some of the prettiest and most amazing luxury and prestigious guesthouses B & B ,and Hostels of the area are found right here and if you want to stay here, it is very advisable to book ahead.
The busy season at Taiwan beaches is Early May til October. The sunny, hot, humid subtropical climate in the south provides a perfect reason to cool off at the beach. Most visitors to Kending and surrounding area are pleasantly surprised to learn that the sunny beaches in Taiwan not only provide a cool glance into the local culture, but they also boast stunning scenery and have an excellent variety of activities for people of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds. You can usually locate a beautiful a beach within an hour of any location; the types of famous beaches varies from fine, white silky golden sand beaches to sparkling rough coral beaches.
Cihkong Waterfalls
There is a nice hike up the area known as the Cihkong Waterfalls. This area is made up of many levels of small waterfalls that flow into a deep pool below. The hike up is pretty steep, but has ropes to hold onto the whole way up to keep from slipping. On the way down you may want to stop at the bottom of one of the small waterfalls and it flows into a very deep pool that you can jump into. This is surely very refreshing after hiking on a hot, humid day.

Taiwan surfing has really started to grow in the last so many years. The coastline is speckled with many remote and bustling and beautiful surfing spots. Kending and surrounding area has become a big Asian surf destination, due to its year round tropical climate and warm, clear water and huge swells during typhoons. Oulanpi Lighthouse is located about 2 hours drive south of Kaohsiung and on the southernmost tip of Taiwan near Kending. This is a gorgeous area where the tableland runs into the sea and the amazed tourists flock every holiday and summer. It looks out over the Bashi Channel facing towards the Philippines
Sail Rock
From far away it is thought to resemble the sail of a large boat which is where it derives its name from. It is also sometimes named Nixon's Head as it is thought to also resemble his head. This picture below is a profile of his face with his nose not far above the water.

Chuhuo Fire From ground
the Natural Fire-"Chuhuo" is located just past Hengchuen' east gate. The local topography consists mainly of mud stone. is so called because nature gas that comes from the fissures or cracksof underground is able to ignite fire that make the place looks like " fire coming out of ground Inside this stone, there are many in it that can emit a steady flow of natural gas. If there is a fire source, then the gas can be ignited and burned. The fire just emits short hot fire from the mud stone.In the summer and fall during the rainy season,cracks and crevices become filled with water. If you want to see the ignited of natural gas、it is the best time to visit there during the spring and winter dry seasons. Wow、the fire was hot and really big. Some nice ladies will cook you hard boiled eggs, sweet potatoes was popping real good smelling popcorn.
Turtle Stone
A visit to Guanshan is a great place to watch the breathtaking sunset with your boyfriend or girl friend. There is a stone just like a turtle that if prayed to ,
it will apparently bring you good luck. So, good luck.
The Windy Cliffs
Very beautiful, windy and dangerous. Don't go too close to the edge on windy days or anytime.
It's tempting to take a good picture, but risky with the high wind gusts.

John Boo is a very helpful instructor. I had a ton of fun doing a DSD and having a BBQ and just chilling out on the upper floor patio with many other divers. You need to see the schools of fish at the dive sites.
