Hsinchu, located on West coast, is the oldest city in the northern Taiwan. It is a vital harbor city for both transportation and trading between northern Taiwan and Mainland China. Hsinchu locals have developed traditional industries (glass, noodles, etc.) and prosperous commercial activities.
Since 1980, the Science Park, known as the Taiwan's Silicon Valley, has attracted many technology companies who have set-up their factories there. Hsinchu City was the "Trading Center" of the near area. It is the first developed city of the north.
The Little Ding Science Park Dong (Shiotintang)
Located at Sanken Village, Hsinfung Town in Hsinchu County, near the Cypress Pine Mountain Scenic Area. Opened in 1979, the 30 hectare compound is divided into eight main sections, each with its own unique features and theme. There are more than 30 fun items, each is equipped with its own scientific peripherals such as laser beam displays, momentum test, solar power, wind power, sound wave, photocell, visual and audio aids etc. This is indeed a great place to learn about natural science while having lots of funs.
